Julian Gerighty Departs Ubisoft to Join Battlefield Studios

In a significant shift within the gaming industry, Julian Gerighty, the executive producer of The Division series at Ubisoft, has announced his departure from the company to join EA’s Battlefield Studios. This transition marks the end of an era for Gerighty at Ubisoft, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the future of The Division franchise.

Ubisoft expressed their sentiments regarding Gerighty’s exit, stating, “While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come.” The company reassured fans that despite Gerighty’s departure, the teams that collaborated with him are still in place, committed to advancing The Division 2, The Division 2: Survivors, The Division Resurgence, and the highly anticipated The Division 3.

In his farewell message, Gerighty reflected on his time at Ubisoft, saying, “It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure.” He expressed confidence in the future of The Division, stating, “The Division future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on. Long live The Division and Godspeed!”

Gerighty’s influence on The Division franchise is undeniable. He co-directed the original The Division and its sequel, The Division 2, and served as creative director for the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws. His promotion to executive producer of the entire The Division series in 2023 came with the weighty responsibility of overseeing its direction. However, during his tenure, he also faced challenges, such as the cancellation of The Division: Heartland. Nonetheless, he recently hinted that The Division 3 is shaping up to be a “monster,” generating excitement among fans.

As Gerighty embarks on his new journey with Battlefield Studios, the specifics of his role within EA remain unclear. However, the timing of his move is noteworthy, as Battlefield Studios recently launched the successful Battlefield 6, which became the top-selling game in the US through November 2025. The studio is currently navigating a delay in the Season 2 update, which is now set for mid-February.

The gaming community will undoubtedly keep a close eye on Gerighty’s next steps and the future of both The Division and Battlefield franchises. With his track record of innovation and creativity, there is much anticipation for what he will bring to his new role.
